Head of Compliance - Singapore
Job Description:
Syfe is APAC's largest and fastest-growing digital wealth platform, trusted with over US$10 billion in assets. We are fundamentally changing how hundreds of thousands of people across Asia-Pacific build wealth through a holistic approach to managing money rather than just pushing investment products. Backed by world-class investors and recognised as a leader in WealthTech, we are a team of passionate builders creating the future of wealth management.
The Right Profile
We are looking for a Head of Compliance to own our compliance and regulatory function across the region, with Singapore as the core focus and direct ownership of the Hong Kong programme alongside group-level oversight of Australia. This is a regional mandate: we are looking for someone who thinks in terms of a multi-jurisdictional platform rather than a single entity's rulebook.
This is a rare opportunity to sit at the intersection of regulation, product, and commercial strategy — working directly with senior leadership as we expand licensed activities, enter new markets, and scale a regulated platform across APAC. You will be the primary voice to regulators and the designated MLRO for our Singapore and Hong Kong entities, reporting to the General Counsel.
You will play a key role in building a compliance function that enables growth rather than constrains it — designing frameworks robust enough for multi-jurisdictional scrutiny, while working in the flow of a fast-moving product organisation shipping new features and asset classes to hundreds of thousands of clients.
We are looking for someone equally comfortable drafting a licence application, challenging a product decision, and sitting across the table from a regulator.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end compliance function for the Singapore and Hong Kong business, including the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, in line with local regulatory requirements.
- Act as the designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), with accountability for the AML/CFT programme across Singapore and Hong Kong.
- Act as the primary point of contact with regulators and external stakeholders, and build credible, constructive relationships with applicable regulatory bodies.
- Lead the end-to-end licence application process for new regulated activities, licence variations, and entity-level authorisations across the Singapore and Hong Kong entities, coordinating with external counsel and regulators through to approval.
- Provide compliance advice to the business, working closely with product, operations, and investment teams across the full product lifecycle.
- Lead regulatory analysis and compliance assessments for new products, features, and business initiatives, including advising on licensing, disclosure, and conduct requirements.
- Identify, assess, and investigate potential compliance breaches or regulatory issues, and provide clear recommendations to senior management on risk, remediation, and reporting obligations.
- Oversee day-to-day compliance monitoring and controls, including incident identification, investigation, remediation, and regulatory assessments.
- Manage the Compliance teams supporting Singapore and Hong Kong businesses and provide group compliance oversight over the Australia compliance programme.
- Manage regulatory reviews and examinations, including preparing submissions and coordinating responses.
- Act as the lead liaison for the administration of independent internal audits of the Company's business and operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a reputable university.
- 10+ years' experience in compliance or regulatory roles within a regulated financial institution, fintech, or professional services environment, including deep, demonstrable knowledge of the Singapore regulatory landscape (MAS licensing, brokerage, wealth management, and investment platform operations) and working knowledge of the equivalent Hong Kong regime, with the appetite to build depth there quickly. Experience in both Singapore and Honk Kong is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across different business units (e.g., Product, Investments, Tech, Marketing, Operations).
- Strong interest in fintech/financial services and investments. Independent, task-oriented, and enjoys autonomy in day-to-day tasks. Meticulous and demonstrates attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and explain complex regulatory issues clearly and succinctly.
